There is no time left to dick around with politicians in Washington trying to get anything done. Climate change is upon us and we've already wasted so much time that now only dramatic change can forestall CO2 levels reaching the point of no return.

We are totally dependent upon a system run by capitalism which only works if it can continue to grow and grow, even when natural resources are finite. This simply won't work. We might as well start getting used to being more self-sufficient and quit supporting capitalistic overconsumption of goods and oil and coal based energy. Find ways to pull your support of these evil, corporate industries by not participating in the push to buy more and more junk that will end up in the ocean; find ways to go off the grid by making your own electricity using solar and wind power (we shouldn't all be on one big grid anyway because it makes us too vulnerable); quit buying and eating processed and fast foods -- eat organic or grow your own instead; find like-minded people with whom you can have a bartering system for goods and services and even start your own monetary system; and quit using gas-powered machines -- ride a bicycle, walk or buy an electric vehicle.

If these actions seem impossible, consider this: if we don't do these things now on our own, it is all going to be forced upon us by mother nature in the not-so-distant future. So, you might as well get used to living off the grid now. If you are successful in doing so, then you won't feel the pain as acutely as most of the masses when change is forced upon us by mother nature and you'll be part of the solution instead of the problem.
