America's Underbelly, Strong or Achilles Heel?
Does The United States of America deserve world wide recognition of the land of the free & the home of the brave in terms of today's reality? Or is failure to achieve a passing grade in the area of human rights, & respect for the needs of the elderly, part of her Achilles Heel?
Contrary to the Trump inspired delusion of america's greatness being gauged by the number of high tech aircraft carriers afloat, or the Dow-Jones Average, the world observes the plight of America's elderly. Our administration turns a blind eye to the aged of our population who are struggling to survive in the face of the dwindling purchase power of obsolete pensions, sparse social security incomes, & less. Provision for adequate health care coverage, a source of anxiety in the generalized population is magnified in the case of the elderly.
One significant legislative step which could be taken is outlined in my letter to Congresswoman Jayapal (D-WA). Elements of this letter will be presented in my next rendition.
Frederick J. Curlin, M.D.
