American Evolution PtII

At the time of my previous article, bin Laden had not yet been brought to justice. Not that anything other than that has changed, though it is ever apparent, the conversation is not complete.

President Obama has come to a series of decisions that would respect the faith of the dead criminal, while still keeping in mind that any burial would provide a locale for which to pay tribute. I am certain the families of the fallen are sympathetic to that.

Maybe he saw 'The Green Mile' in which Tom Hanks' character taught the dignity we give to the criminal in the final administration of judicial recompense. The price had been paid, therefore, in the aftermath, dignity is and should be expected. The pain the criminal had caused, the extensive suffering, were all paid for with the extraction of the greatest payment that could be taken. In this case it wasn't one/three-thousandth enough. But it was the largest payment we could extract from the single individual.

Final summation of that is "He wrote a check his ass couldn't cash".
Bring him back three-thousand times more and kill him three-thousand times over, in equally painful ways? It won't be enough, Ever.
This action should be obvious to us. The fact that it isn't takes us far beyond the discussions here in this lone article.

Back to the conversation, Are we there yet? The first answer was, Obviously not.

With justice catching up with bin Laden we are still left with an investigation of our core values, and where we stand in regards to those values. It is very apparent in the discussions and articles being distributed that we are far behind the curve in our evolution.
We have lost our way, not yesterday, or last year, not a decade ago, or even a generation. But long, long ago. So long ago that we have grown complacent, even comfortable, with our behaviors. To the point of discussing a change in basic human inter-relationships as 'illogical'.

As yet, in our two-thousandth century, any real evidence of generational progression is unavailable. Miniscule growth may occasionally sprout in our collective history, but major gains are sorely lacking. More so now than any time before.

A recent post said it well when he reminded us that we have been 'washing our bloody hands with gasoline'. 'Recognize our dominance or we burn down your house'. In singular scenarios such as the oppressive terroristic techniques of groups such as al Qaeda, and Nazi-ism, the heavy hammer is at first an attention getter, bringing a semblance of respect. But, at minimum an end to behaviors/activities, at least upon America and hopefully to all.

So yea burn down their house and terminate the existence of all violent oppressors with an unparalleled prejudice in proportion to that shown, or even unequal, who cares, but end it. With extreme prejudice, and don't be faint in the declaration of it.

It will not bring us any closer to the growth we should have accomplished centuries ago. Burning down their house will not, in any way, bring us any closer to our ideal, or how we perceive ourselves to be. (We are the one's living in a movie).

Individuals may, with rarity, determine for themselves a value higher than their society. We should celebrate that and not discredit it. It's just dishonest to celebrate any other than the singular individuals having shown themselves worthy by means of greatness.

In an apocryphal aftermath, and it is just groups without a government to decide their dynamics, how will we behave? Trust in a very simple singular truth. Whether truthful, honest, or just. The weakest will fall victim to the strongest or if not the strongest, the sleaziest.

How will you talk to them? Armed only with your earned skill of debate and arbitration. What will you say to each other? On what terms will a minority white man discuss what he needs with an able brown farmer with the skills to provide for his? Or a black man with the ingenuity and foresight to bring his family comfortably through and living well? Or with any of the others?

Truth be told none of us, (humans) deserve any kind judgments from the Creator.
