Intro: "President Barack Obama touted his debt-ceiling deal Tuesday, saying, 'We can't balance the budget on the backs of the very people who have borne the biggest brunt of this recession.' Yet that is what he and his coterie of Wall Street advisers have done."

Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Great and right-on piece, Amy. Obama promising one thing and turning around and doing another. That's his signature.

It seems clear that the Republican Party is hopeless and the Democratic Party needs new leadership that represent the people's life interests more than corporate and billionaire profits. This country desperately needs constructive job programs, real affordable medical care and social security pension plans - and not more war funds. The current President's and Congressional plans & legislation to support these positions are reprehensible.

Obama is a turn coat, let's vote him out, but who do we have to vote in? MAYBE A WRITE IN?

Better to get Kucinich to run against him in the primaries. And if Kucinich loses, then get Bernie Sanders to run as an Independent.
