Naomi saith: "This is a speech I delivered on Friday night, at a terrific event organized by the Council of Canadians. It is about why the G20 deserves to be derailed, interrupted and, ultimately, shut down."

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.
General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.
Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Weaning people away from "Newsweek" and "The Situation Room" (to say nothing of FOX News) and giving more nutritious fare in such venues as "The Nation" and "Monthly Review" is difficult ... especially when the corporate media are so "user-friendly" - aren't Katy Couric and Rick Sanchez sweet?
I guess we know the answer -- Obama, Clinton, and most other US politicians have been bought and paid for by banks. Same with US news media. They are the problem, not part of the solution.
The solution is a massive tax strike by middle and lower income earners. Simply don't pay for governments as long as they represent only banks and global capitalism. The tax strike is coming. It will unite the right wing teapartiers and the left wing antigolobalists and anarchists. If enough people go on strike, the IRS cannot prosecute them all.
Let's talk up the tax strike -- the real tea party.
That said, China's intransigence essentially renders the G20 moot.
We have our own nonviolent protest that is being laughed at, though, so we can't gloat too loudly!
I am in love with Naomi Klein!
