We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. Well I have an Italian-American friend who grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn NY, who talks like that all the time. She will "ax" someone to do something. You have "erl" in the Berler (oil in the boiler). Other people I know who originated in the same area also talk like that. GWB often misspoke as well - 'putting food on the family' - most of our imports come from overseas!" How about SP's round about conversations that leave you wondering what she just said? Please the only reason Limbaugh's doing this, is because he is just prejudiced against Obama. Limbaugh and others forget that Obama's mother and grandparents are Caucasian.

I know people who grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn NY that say "ax" instead of ask. They are Italian Americans. So who originated these colloquialisms? Don't AX don't tell!
What about GWB's mispronounciati ons such as "putting food ON the family" and "most of our imports come from overseas" (DAH!!) where else? How about SP's round of talk on the interviews. Her sentences run on and on, with nothing of substance once you have read two paragraphs as in the case of the Katy Couric interviews.

Most people do not know that Limbaugh's show is provided to most small market stations in exchange for about 25% of the ad airtime on that show. This is why Gold Bond and other products are always on this time slot. The local stations fill 3 hrs of air time @ little cost and generate huge (comparative) ad $$ without accepting any risk. In the large metro areas the program cost local stations mega bucks to air. Product boycotts will have to be closely organized.

in my market (Chicago) Rush's advertisers are (ahem...) bankruptcy lawyers, father's rights lawyers, gold as investment, sexual disfunction clinics, and (my favorite)...tutoring to learn to read...I know these are all legitimate businesses, but it's still interesting that these particular industries choose Rush's show to advertise in their attempt to reach a captive audience.
