Goldberg writes: "In many ways, Dominionism is more a political phenomenon than a theological one. It cuts across Christian denominations, from stern, austere sects to the signs-and-wonders culture of modern megachurches. Think of it like political Islamism, which shapes the activism of a number of antagonistic fundamentalist movements, from Sunni Wahabis in the Arab world to Shiite fundamentalists in Iran."

Perhaps the separation of church and state is no longer necessary? Here's a great point about the debt ceiling (i.e., maybe Sharia law isn't such a bad thing, afterall?!):
There is one culture that bans debt completely: Islam, under sharia law. Because the Koran (3:130) says: “O, yo

I accidentally truncated the line from Koran(3:130), in full it reads:

“O, you who believe! Devour not interest, doubled and redoubled, and be careful of Allah.”

Wow, you all gave me a negative rating!!!

I guess you folks don't get sarcasm and parody!

So, let me explain it:
The Bachmans and Perrys of the world are all for co-mingling of religion and government as long as it's 'their' religion. Ask them to allow, understand, or respect any other religion, and it's a whole new ballgame!

Now do you get it?!

Yes, but these people are serious, sick, and racist...and the have "the podium" AND the ear of the equally racist religious fanatics in the US!

Be afraid, people, but be aware, too. Shout from the highest "mountain" you can find that we will TAKE BACK our democracy. The Bush gang were democracy thieves; this gang of dominionists are "democracy detroyers."

Pun intended: I made "a prophecy" long ago when Sarah Palin got on my radar that she will sail into a government she eschews on the wings of those who are FAR worse than her, who are FAR more serious than her, who are FAR hungrier than her!

If Bachmann or Perry win the GOP, either they will take one or the other as VP, they will bring in Palin and surround themselves with every other dominionist they can to TRULY topple our government and thus the world.

Smacks of Nazism; be VERY afraid of them, but DO NOT let them get away with it. Make no jokes about them. Expose them for who they truly are, and send them packing.

I'm nauseous again.

We can hope that these "dominionists" demonstrate their crazy, Nazi-like goals to the point whereby most of us recognize the dangers of this kind of thinking. We cannot simply dismiss their thinking, because they "rule" in the Mega-churches-- especially in the south. However, we must speak out against their "domination" of the Christian church, and it is hoped that most decent, thinking Chrisitans in this country will begin to speak out as well. If Rick Perry or Michelle Bachmann continue for long in the race for the nomination of their party, they will surely come up against the real world, and they will be held accountable for their narrow-minded, bigotted attitudes. There is no place for this kind of thinking in American Politics because it disregards the essence of Separation of Church and State. It attempts to rob the citizens of true "Freedom of Religion."

I would very much like to indulge in sarcasm here. OK, I give - let them gain dominion over Jesusland in Israel, not the U.S.

Between Eric Prince and these declared militant religious creeps, whether or not they actually cause world war, they are contributing to the chaos they thrive on and the downfall of decent people everywhere - people who are doing their best to live and let live and maintain dignity and integrity.

They are not Christians; they are the worst their bible declares to be evil.

To think of this Christian right wing movement as anything but radical and extremist is anything but foolish or paranoid. Biblical law is the law of holy inquisition and Salem witch hunts. If biblical law reenforces slavery and vilifies socialism and is striving for world domination I think we are seeing corporatized religion promoted by Exxon, Eli Lily, Monsanto and all their ilk. Obviously an ignorant and superstitious populace can be made to believe anything. And mindless consumerism can be sold as an endless need to make soul saving purchases.

There is no more serious problem in the world than this power grab by people who want to destroy ALL in the name of pure and outright evil.

My father, a devout Catholic and staunch Democrat, is rolling over in his grave.

I am going to work to try to stop them; I have to. There is not choice here. I have to do it for my father, who lived a good and loving life, harming no one. I have to do it for all of you who are trying to live a similar, conscientious life. He deserves to rest in peace; we deserve to live our lives without fear, with conviction about the efficacy of our democracy and our Constitution, and with the honest knowledge that our actions throughout our lives are for the benefit of ALL.

They must be stopped! I'm not joking and I'm not paranoid. I know these people. Please, please, do not take this lightly or we non-dominionist s will be the next scapegoats who will have nowhere to hide. We WILL be the enslaved who think we're free; this, I assure you.

Act now.

Just what we need more of in the "democratic" United States: a Neo-Nazi fascist world-conquest cult fronted by evangelical "Christians", the mirror image of Radical Islam as practiced by the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Two presidential candidates as Poster Boy and Girl for the NAR; the scapegoats-du-d ecade: blacks, gays, Jews and ANY non-white immigrant (does anyone really believe these "Christians" give a shit if they're legal?)

Here's a brief excerpt from Wikipedia on the seminal Nazi "Kristallnacht" of Nov, 1938...
"...SA stormtroopers and civilians destroyed buildings with sledgehammers, leaving the streets covered in pieces of smashed windows—the origin of the name "Night of Broken Glass." Ninety-one Jews were killed, and 30,000 Jewish men—a quarter of all Jewish men in Germany—were taken to concentration camps, where they were tortured for months, with over 1,000 dying. Around 1,668 synagogues were ransacked, and 267 set on fire..." This can't happen here, right? Right? Is anyone really ready for this kind of social explosion all over the U.S., during the worst economy in 80 years? Maybe not Jews this time (then again?), but maybe Mexicans, or Paks, or blacks? If we sit back while the political front man and women (let's not forget Sarah) for Dominionism are further legitimized by the media, we're headed down a very steep, slippery slope. No doubt.

No, it'll be ANYONE who is not a dominionist. And many will leave the US to escape this kind of rabid thinking; many have already gone, as they saw this coming.

Those left behind will be too poor to go or too ill-informed to understand what's really happening to them.

The hypocrisy of Bachmann and Perry proclaiming a Christianity on steroids and insisting that the Holy Bible is our lawbook instead of the Constitution of the United States and then warning us about the imposition of Sharia Law is stunning. Are there any limits to the rightward drift of American politics? I for one have been left in the dust of the right from my position firmly ;lanted to the left of center of the old politcal specturm of my youth.
Committments to civil rights as expressed in the Constitution and particularly the Bill of Rights are completly at odds with the Old Testament. We will return to public stoning when we wish to punish an adultress. There may be no Jesus to intervene.

I have often wondered why these "Christians" as they call themselves, seem to dwell on the Old Testament rather than the New Testament that was the begining of Christianity.Th e old testament is full of rath and hell fire, which undoubly apeals to these type of "folks". Also the New Testament isn't convenient to their twisted thinking. Perry comparing himself to Jesus really was at the height of his insanity! I recently read "Under The Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. It deals with far out Mormon sects. I can't really tell the difference between these "Christians" and them. The only difference seems to be the number of wives you can have. Both Bachman and Perry and also Palin come across as below average intelligence. Remember the average intelligence is only 100. I wonder if they even qualify for that? They seem brain dead and not very worldly. I can't imagine our allies would be too pleased to deal with such rigid personalities.

What is so different about them? We have troops in over half of the countries on earth, we have the largest military, the most nuclear weapons; and we presently are in two major wars and assisting in two smaller ones. If isn't a sign of attempted domination, I do not know what is. With a few exceptions, everyone in Washington wants to run the world; no matter how many American lives are lost trying to do that.

Please folks!
I know that this is frightening and that the Fragmented States is well down the Rushdoony Road to theocracy but y'know what they are utterly lacking? -----A sense of humor!
As long as we can laff (mis-spelling OK!) and make music which, if I'm not utterly off-base, is in our individual and collective DNA's (which by their lights is "God-given"), we need not fear these witless perverts -and I mean every letter of that description!
Can you imagine a Taliban'ish or Auto-de-Fe'ish world without music, free literature (currently more under threat) or poesy, visual arts or a sense of fantasy?
I think that even the numbed state of the populace would revolt if that were to even seem likely, including the totally useless and corrupted mass media.
This is -as one BBC commentator recently stated, "Like predicting the next UK Prime Minister via a poll taken in the outer Hebrides".
Don't be alarmed -just vigilant (for any and most likely skullduggery) and remember: these people live in a different world on almost any conceivable level, than the rest of us working or would-like-to-b e-working stiffs and are more likely to destroy each other than their perceived enemies but can indeed, do a lot of unnecessary damage on their string-narrow path to nowhere!

I used to have a similar opinion, reiver, but changed my mind when I saw the increasing control of local governments by those who called themselves Christian, not to mention the increasing need for political candidates to declare their particular beliefs and loyalty to god. I received an e mail yesterday saying we all need to consider Rick Perry, that he may be our only hope to get the country on the "right" path.

Bit by bit these extremists really are taking over literature (remember the textbooks in Texas and the push for teaching creationism), and attempting to censor art, etc. There are schools being controlled by local churches (I live near one) and attempts to control human service departments. The movement has been slow, but steady, and is becoming more forceful every time a candidate declares their heated religious desires.

Remember these dominionists use the Old Testament, particularly Genesis, to guide them. The Evangelical Christians use the New Testament solely to study the teachings of Christ. There is total hell fire and damnation running throughout the Old Testament...so when they speak about "Jesus being their Savior," understand that they do not even LOOK AT his teaching, which are profoundly about working to benefit ALL people in our lives, not just the chosen few.

These people are not Christians at all; they are idiotic creationists who believe the world is only 6,000 years old, should be dominated into submission, and that those of us who do not embrace their beliefs should be destroyed. To 'Glen'; I know what you are sayin' but I have to take my own stand somewhere and the death of a culture is a terrible thing to witness.
For example Iran, or Persia as it was once called, was once the high-cultural jewell in the crown of the middle east before the Ayotollah and his mullahs took, even after the US and BP orchestrated Mossadeq's fall.
Bob Dylan summed it up nicely in his profound tone-poem "The Gates of Eden" with the words "-And in all their promises of Paradise, you will not hear one laugh"!
And please quit chuckin' Jesus' name about at each other like a baseball y'all. It carries no weight with many and just insults others who revere his memory. The subject people have nothing even vaguely spiritual about them, although do I think that the appalling Barfman is at least sincere and actually believes what she says in a kind of Messianic way, unlike Perry, who is all about power and money (in other words, a true politician!).
You know that old saw "God save me from your followers!"???
LAUGH, LAUGH AND HAVE FUN (At them and yourselves), preferably of y'r own making!

+2 # Glen 2011-08-17 14:14
I do understand what you are getting at, reiver, but my comments were sarcastic, having to do with "Jesusland" and the origins of Christianity.

We truly are witnessing the downfall of portions of a culture, and the building of an alternative culture not of your or my making. Many of us are concerned with the steady creep of militant religious "christians", or any other religious radicals, and their influence over established institutions with the support of corporate thugs, like the Koch brothers.

If there were more adherence to the teachings of Jesus, we would not have the militant aggressiveness of so called christians today. They are not Christians.
