We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

But it is by no means clear, to me at least, that there are any sane, rational people left in the nation who are simultaneously, running for Congress. We seem to place the worst of all Americans into this political Kabuki called politics--the people who cannot seem to make a living doing honest work. And then (thank you Supremes) we insist that unchecked money supplied by entirely corrupt corporatists should flow into the piggy banks of these serfs of the Lords of the Manor. The American people are no longer in charge of our fate. Instead, we have given it away to our corrupt political bankers--the Kochs, Murdochs and others of that ilk.
We should be ashamed, but we seem no longer capable of shame as a people.

The key point in this argument is that we cannot govern our nation effectively. We have been saddled with bickering, corrupt political reps who shoot ideological spitballs across the aisle, while the economy crashes upon the rocks. We really do need to clean house and senate of these rats, implement TERM LIMITS and voice our concerns to reps who are beholden to most of us, formerly known as the middle class.

I wonder why the constituents of the T partiers have not spoken up?? Videos of their rallies showed a lot of older - and middleaged people, who certainly would be hit hard by the draconian messures proposed by the republicans.

They right and both wrong. We need to raise taxes and we need to cut spending. Instead of continuing to threaten the elderly it does seem Obama could dump his worthless health plan. But no, just tell the Senior Citizens of this country they will not be paid. Sounds very cruel to me.

It seems as if many people just don't understand how a bad health care system is a drag on the economy. Here's the deal: If there were universal health care, ie Medicare for all, instead of various insurance plans, The TOTAL cost of medical care for America would go DOWN, and cost LESS (as a % of GDP). This is how it was done in other countries, and WHY it was done.

Republicans campaign on "eliminate the waste", but refuse to do so.

Camus11, I want to give you an encouraging word, with a sound follow up. NEVER allow yourself to sink to a state of apathy; that is EXACTLY what these evil incarnates are COUNTING ON. Many of the people who have supported these "unindicted criminals" are too embarassed to admit it, even to themselves, and too proud to take the necessary action to correct things. The millions who stayed home during the 2010 midterms are deeply regretting that they did so. When Allende was elected President, He wanted to make sure the poor farmers would be able to own land and not just be serfs. No way would the Oligarks allow that. So the minute he took office. There was nothing but big trouble.
Food and many other things needed in people's daily lives virtually disappeared overnight and inflation raged.
Allende was hung out to dry, just as the republicans are treating O. Whatever he is for...even if THEY suggested it..They shoot down. We have trouble allover. Our courts can not function because their budget are cut so sharply. Trouble every where...

What makes you think the conservative arm of SCOTUS isn't sleeping with the Koch brothers, et al, just as Walker is? Not just the people who get their news from Rupert Murdoch, but who -- along with ol' Rupert -- create that news.
