Myth: Obama admin defied the Constitution when they "told" BP to create an escrow account ... Myth: Obama, unlike Bush, "was off on vacation" during the crisis. The FoxNews crowd is in full manufacture mode on the oil spill.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Thank you for this information. My local paper is full of this baloney, and in order to answer it, I knew it would take a lot of research. Thanks for doing it for me!!

I can't understand why the Cheney "secret energy policy" of 2001 hasn't been forcibly re-opened. It was still a secret last I heard, as Dick got his pals in the Supreme Court to maintain its secrecy. Cheney said he wasn't a member of the executive OR the legislative branch of government. Remember? How did the media let that one slide?
The oil catastrophe in the Gulf is now the smoking gun required to open that secret, I believe.

Excellent comment Rowland! I too, along with what should be all Americans need to know what "Deadeye Dick" was selling out on "our" behalf. The concept of perpetual war is the cover for guys like Cheney to conceal their underhanded dealings from public scrutiny. This is one of my biggest disappointments with the Obama administration. Take Cheney and all his henchmen and hang them out so that we can all see them for the criminals they really are.

I love how people will listen to Fox or talk radio and treat the falsehoods as reality. The problem is unless you have a list like this available, people will listen to others continuing the falsehoods and believe it.

When Fox went to court to establish its right to lie to its viewers I thought America would wake up and wrinkle its collective nose at the stench that is Murdoch and Ailes. I was wrong. Fox viewers love being lied to and anxiously await each day to hear and fall in love with the new lies.

The last time I watched Fox News, because a friend was watching the Sunday morning yakking programs, Lynn Cheney and Bill Kristol were criticising Obama for EXACTLY what Bush did. Bush did it all times 50. Whether any of us support the government or Obama at this stage, we should at least insist on factual reporting. It never fails to amaze me that people I know and like are avid Fox fans. Therefore, I steer clear of these discussion with them.

This is the truth - we all have to wake up and understand that this sick twisted information is Rupert Murdock's agenda.

RanMan you are a total idiot. Guess you thought Geo Bush was a wonderful President. Bet you watch Fox News??? for all your world news. Too bad some Americans can't think for anything but get it from Fox(you lie) News

With Rantman, it's seem all the cockroaches are coming out of the cesspools and sewers of America, doesn't it? That's the way I view it.

Nothing is going to cure the sick mentally of these bible-thumping, flag waving hypocrites. Only a swift kick in the arse is going to solve that problem. The fool doesn't know that violence will be met with violence on the street of a decaying nation who has lost it's bearing and morals with the like of Fox News.

Rantman is a good example why America is no longer view as a democracy and instead a nation of greedy corporate politicians and their foaming mouth neo-conservatives like Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Rove, Cheney and his evil spawns and a group of GOP politicians in Congress and in the Supreme (or is it Extreme) Court Justices

The US is becoming a has-been nation.

I think we're now in the MISinformation Age. The FauxNews speculations and conspiracy theories get incorporated into even bolder, nasty email flyers that get circulated on the internet. Just think what Hilter could have accomplished if he had had FauxNews and the internet!

I disagree. Those evil nazis were a hell of lot more intelligent than these dumb arse southern bible-taught hillbillies.

These dumb neo-fascists "American" idiots will be easy to crush like bugs once the people decide that enough is enough!

These foaming mouths fools think they will get away with it, they better think again.

What if we put a ton of chicken feathers, straight from the bird, out there and see how many tons of oil it would collect in, say, a week's time? Then there's the question of Gull Island, AK. Google Earth has it 'grayed out,' kind of like Rumsfeld's back yard or some such. Let someone in the Senate put up a bill to nationalize Gull Island and DEMAND the Republicans filibuster or else we'll pass it with a simple majority.

The point is that Gull Island (allegedly) has four different oil fields (different pressures, chemical compositions) and together represent some fair fraction of what Saudi Arabia has to offer. The point is to keep the apparent availability low, so the price of crude stays up. Same reason we invaded Iraq: to keep Iraqi oil either in the OPEC oil cartel or otherwise restricted.

The FCC needs to create an agency that demands on-air retractions in the same time slot and for the same length of time as misleading or dishonest comments.

"Fox News" is the brilliant title of what in reality is the functioning propaganda arm of the Republican party. Virtually every "news" item is carefully researched and manipulated to provoke some sort of right wing response. The fact that they call it "news" is the hook on which they catch the sucker fish out there who are only looking for ammunition to bolster their elitist, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, pseudo-Christian view of how America should look. Rich, pretty white girl gets murdered? Its because of a "Liberal" justice system. Poor and minority voters becoming more engaged? Its "corrupt" outfits like ACORN that are to blame. Gays want to marry? A recent Fox poll says overwhelming majority of Americans are Christians who believe in "traditional values". Protest against war? Prepare to be vilified by arm chair warriors like O'Reilly and Hannity or preached to by "traitors" like "Col. Oliver North". And don't forget to hide in fear because "terrorists" might come from south of the border. CRAP!

Thank you for the facts. The problem is that the main media networks, CNN, CBS, NBC. etc., are no better than Fox in perpetuating these lies against the present administration by not giving the facts. They all relish in the President's lower approval ratings, which are without merit, but they fail to tell the truth.

Some of this report is objectively untrue.

Obama's Administration did refuse aid, in writing, from about a dozen other countries. Some of the "aid" was offered "at cost" but some of it was offered as simple humanitarian charity.

I cannot speculate why the administration refused the aid since I can't read minds, but they did refuse offers of skimmers, booms, and technical advice -- all of which are needed in much greater quantities than the resources that are currently available. There is no possible public interest justification for looking these gift horses in the mouth.

I started a local campaign about a year ago asking people to always put the word "News" in quotes whenever making reference to Fox "News". I would encourage as many others as possible to join me in this endeavor.
