One has to wonder what he will be saying to the guys he assured that their millions are certain to insure a Romney win. When he goes back to ask for more money, will nayone take his phone calls?

This will require that he go away on vacation for a long enough time that hot tempers will cool down and he can try to con them into a new, costly scheme for taking over the nation's power structure.

Karl Rove's moment of panic over Fox News' premature Ohio call as not dissimilar from that brief window of hope --- by a man on the gallows --- between the instant of that the trap door opens and the instant when he runs out of rope.

I had similar thoughts regarding "trust" of Karl Rove in the future. Here's some of the "numbers" reportedly "donated" to Karl's "funds": $19.5M fm Harold Simmons (he's in metals); $7.5M fm Bob Perry (a homebuilding megolith); $5.0M fm Robert Rowling (Omni Hotel mogul). Undisclosed amount from the Koch bros. That's some serious cash to "throw away" - don't think Karl's former "reputation" is gonna hold water after this burn-out!

It certainly seems to have become irrelevant, which is the same as finished.
Karl Rove funneled hundreds of millions into various super pacs and got nothing; the status quo in the White House and the House of Representatives , and lost ground in the Senate. Unfortunately, Fox News is not finished, it will be around for a long time. As long as a clientele who loves their brand of slanted news and comment exists, there will be a Fox News.

Let us hope though that the long rightward wave started in 1980 has crested, and that we have started a swing of the pendulum back to normalcy. Obama has admirably checked their ability to pass regressive legislation and put right wing justices on the Supreme Court. But it will be up to progressives, those who cater to RSN, who will have to continue the effort to educate the American public and to fight to defend and restore progressive policies.

I second the sentiment, but without much hope of seeing it happen. Stunningly, FOX "News" is the most watched "News" Source in America. FOX sells FEAR. People become addicted to a daily dose of FEAR. (Fear and sex are the two basic prime motivators of the human brain.)

As long as there is demand for the "drug", the dealer will not go out of business, no matter how revolting the "drug" to the casual observer !

Why didn't disenfranchisin g people with their new ID laws and fliers sent out to confuse Democrats where and when they should vote work ? Karl it didn't work for two reason's 1. we were onto your game and ready for you 2. good always conquers evil in the end ! Now hurry up Karl and make up a good excuse to give those billionaire backers as to why they lost all that money and didn't even get the pig wearing lipstick !
Frankly I am happy they lost all that money ,its a good lesson on how cheating doesn't pay. Hitting those people in their wallet is the only thing that gets their attention !
Why all those people believe Fox faux News is actually journalism is beyond me .

The key question will be how many of the FoxNews viewers are going to be willing to realize that they were systematically lied to and their confidence abused by the network, vs. how many are going to allow themselves to be sent chasing after one red herring or another by way of diverting blame. FoxNews will only take a tumble when the first group outnumbers the second. There isn't any meaningful attack from outside that will bring the edifice down; it's likely only to feed the circle-the-wago ns mentality that nourishes the second group. Of course, there's nothing wrong with continuing gentle pressure by way of steadily pointing out the discrepancies between what they were predicting and what actually happened, and the perils of relying on "informed personal analysis" rather than statistically sound polling and analysis methodologies.

Leave it to Fox News to show just how "American" they are on Election Night of all nights. I can imagine "discussions" of this sort going on in the lower class of bars not long before closing time.

Please, folks, just turn off this crap. Leave them to talk to themselves. The election results basically show that they have been doing just that all along.

Karl Rove engineered one of the biggest failures in the history of American politics proving that lying, cheating, and stealing is NOT the way to run a country.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.

Fox News will do fine. Most people are more interested in myth than in facts. As a result, most Repubs ignore Romney's lies, (and, historically, Reagan's expansion of both the government and the deficit), while liberals ignore Obama's unconstitutiona l treatment of Bradley Manning, his increased surveillance of the US, illegal assassinations of American citizens via drone, unprecedented number of prosecution of whistle blowers, etc.

I voted for Obama as the lesser of two evils, given our winner-take-all election system. But on many issues he's not even remotely progressive, but clearly, a corporatist.

1.Faith-based politics takes a beating as reported on Fox News. Hucklebee's prayers fail the GOP hopeful as God gives the Republicans a real smack down.
2. The Body Politic in Missouri had a way of "shutting things down" when they're getting screwed. Bye-bye Todd Aikin.
3. Allan West gets kicked out of Washington, DC, because all those communists in Congress conspired to get rid of him. He's been sentenced to living out his remaining years in Florida, the American version of Siberia.
4. Joe Walsh is unable to convince voters to hate the truth; is kicked out of Congress for his heroic but quixotic efforts on behalf of his campaign to formalize insanity in politics. He goes home humiliated after being beaten by a female veteran who lost her legs in combat in Iraq - and outran him in the voting.
4. Whoever expected that a Hurricane with a woman's name would wash away Romney's hopes, dreams and trail of lies? If Americans want to believe in "signs from God", what better example is there than SuperStormSandy !
5. Richard Mourdock loses his bid for the US Senate in Indiana. Yet another example of the "Will of God" in this year's election.
Upon reflection, maybe there's something to this "God stuff" after all....

Actually, it's great that the billionaires spent all that money - it put it back into circulation. A large part of the economic problem is the hoarding of cash by the big banks and individuals. All that money spent supported jobs in the design, journalism, and media industries. So it's now available to circulate again. Naturally, I'm pleased that their spending it didn't result in the election of the Dark Lord - but it did at least support quite a lot of ordinary folks, which is a Good Thing.

It would be nice to think that this was the end of Rove's career. He could retire and move back to Texas or wherever the hell he is from. He could go back to being Bush's brain. Bush has not uttered a peep since he lost Rove.

But he won't give up. I heard Paul Vigurie saying that now is the change for the hard right wing to finally seize total control of the republicans. Romney was the last mainstream, big government, liberal republican who would ever get the party's nomination. Rove will join the hard right wing (he alreay is there) and bring his enormous fund raising powers into that smaller and smaller group of fascists.

If that is the way the republicans are going -- i.e., becoming totally teaparty -- they will never win a national election. But they can control the House of Reps. From there they can block the government from doing anything. As a party of "no" they can destroy the USG and throw the nation into one crisis after another. Rove and his fellow nihilists will do a lot of damage because that is the only power they have left. I think the next four years will be really ugly. John Boner probably does not have the backbone to make the fascist teapartiers happy. He will be replaced by a true nazi like Eric Cantor. They republicans will be more destructive than any hurricane.

Now that Fox has become even more irrelevant than before, it's about time that we started pushing Obama to do the sorts of things he was elected to do. Signing bills that allow the president to arbitrarily designate anyone as a terrorist and subject to endless imprisonment is not American. Neither is what they've done to Bradley Manning. Nor is the warrantless eavesdropping that has been going on.

Well, those things do not have to happen- THE REPUGS COULD CONSIDER PUTTING THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY FIRST FOR A CHANGE AND COMPROMISING... .there has not been a good repub LEADER since IKE.
Rove cheated, lied and had beaucoup $ (interesting that one repub quoted on news said that the Obamma CAMPAIGN outspent the Romney CAMPAIGN- neatly sidesteping the super PAC monies) and the American citizens saw through the smoke and mirrors. Thank God... if BO is smart he can now pull out the stops and if the Repubs balk give the FACTS (reasons and numbers, premise and conclusion) to the citizenry and have them write, email and embarass the slackers.

I agree and I hope he does just that jcdav instead of caving into them by giving them everything they want !
We didn't vote Republican because we don't want what they are selling so why should the man we did vote for compromise with them on issues we never agreed with them on like cutting Social Security, raising the retirement age, cutting Medicare and Medicaid and cutting all those programs that help the elderly, disabled and poor to survive in this country with its high cost of living and low wage and retirement benefits ! Those programs I already mentioned plus food stamps and HEAP aren't give away's, they are for many of us who live on a small fixed income or work for minimum wage trying to raise a family our only means of survival .
Unless you raise the minimum wage and the cost of living index to where it should be for those of us on Social Security and the working poor we will never be able to survive without these programs .
Giving into the Repugs on these issues will cause great hardship for the people who would be effected by it and our President needs to understand this !

Well, Hitler stayed blinkered 'till the end and finally blamed the German people for letting him down and not fighting hard enough.
Such people -and many of their deluded followers- never get it and as William Shirer put it at the closing of "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" "In the end, Hitler learned nothing".
So Limp-balls and "Fix" will carry on regardless as long as they have sponsors willing and dim-witted or hate-driven enough to pay for commercials on their channels (remember Clear Channel has 1,300 radio stations nationwide, many carrying the fat, drug-bum-motor- mouth) and enough "Foreheads Villainous Low" ignoramuses amongst citizenry to take it all as their own version of truth, lacking the reasoning powers to do otherwise.
