Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

I gave you a thumbs up, thinking it would at least register a single one for you but, to my dismay, it came up zero, which means you had a thumbs down prior to my vote. I can even imagine why anyone would give a thumbs down to your comment, as I see it as very appropriate.
As the author asserts, someone had better start speaking up, before we are all subject to this treatment, and it doesn't appear to be very far off.

The Nazis were protected by the German legal system in 1932. Britain protected all too long dangerous criminals, hiding behind the idea of god.
One of these criminals was wanted for mass murder in France and Egypt (where he was condemned to death). Britain took 12 years to transfer him to France (where he got life detention).

Moderate Islam is fine, Islamofascism something else entirely, and the first to kill moderate Muslims.

Intelligence is the ability to distinguish.

What is Islamofascism? This sounds like another Zionist defamation of the Arabs.

Please explain Islamofiscism. I know the definition of fascism because I live in a fascsit state, (USA) but I don't understand your use of this term.

-11 # brux 2012-10-02 13:53
Are you kidding .... you do not understand what islamofascism means, or you are hoping the answer will contain some phrase you can jump on and whine about? It's pretty clear, many if not most countries that are majority muslim have government by islam, the most despotic corrupt anti-human rights system there is.

+14 # DurangoKid 2012-10-02 16:21
The problem with the term islamofascism is that it is meaningless. It's a lame-assed attempt to equate Arab nationalism with Nazism in the public mind. And everyone knows what happens to debate once the Nazis are mentioned; it ends. If we look at the results of the actions of the opposing sides we would be hard pressed to tell the difference. The US kills noncombatants with explosives delivered by drones and our opponents kill noncombatants with explosives delivered by hand or land vehicle. The difference seems to be whether or not these defensive measures are on behalf of the American Empire or some disgruntled locals who take exception to the imperial aims of US elites. On a cost/benefit analysis so worshiped by US capitalists one would have to conclude that the locals are trying to up the price of imperialism in the hope that it will become to expensive to pursue and as in Vietnam, the US will cry sour grapes and leave. Back on the home front we're left with the choice of which programs for the poor must be cut or eliminated. The only trickle down seems to be the middle class joining the impoverished class. As long as we ignore the role of the imperium in bleeding the center to feed the periphery, we'll never get to the heart of the problem.

Yeah. Rather much like the U.S. 2000 and 2004 elections. In the 2000 election you surely recognize the fascist aspects of that event. The voting manipulation and fraudulent machines in 2004 looked pretty suspect. Don't kid yourself about 2008, either.

I agree with you entirely, Patrice. That IS the distinguishing characteristics . I hold that for ANY ultra nationalist, fascistic cause and all the extremist religions whether Christian, Muslim or Jewish. I do not care. Here is the bottom line. My most important freedom of all the freedoms is free speech. My most important method of social change is through NON violent means using free speech. I want to keep people alive. I do not want to kill for a synaptic connection in one's brain which is all, I believe that belief systems are. One must, I believe, have the capacity to question EVERYTHING because as I see it EVERYTHING is man made and subject to the laws of science. When that is threatened then I hope my government will do all it can to preserve it no matter WHERE it comes.

When they told young men they could trade their lives to spend eternity with seventy virgins, you didn't speak up...

When they circumcised girls and stoned women for "honor crimes" you didn't speak up..

Not one person writing here, not ONE shows any evidence of insider's knowledge of the aim and mission of Muhammadanism as practiced and demanded by clerics and original language Qur'anic writing.

Apologies for repeating: "The Blood Of The Moon" by George Grant.

Pretensions of acceptance or examples of living alongside persons of other beliefs expressed by progressive followers ignore the fact of taxation and repression. Shunning. Disowning of family members in some cases, murder in more cases than anyone wants to report.

Women still not in the yoke & with reading privileges should see Walter Martin's book, Religious Counterfeits, and also Avi Lipkin's "The Return To Mecca".

If Christianity, with technology in hand, took like offense at the crimes against people of the Book by Muhammadanism, what would happen to the places of pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia?

There is a lot of baggage in human history. This current environment calls for ALL faith systems to step back from the Hatfield vs. McCoy syndrome, and look forward, not continue the path to destruction! What America do if oil were not in the equation?

God is in control, and He says "Vengeance Is Mine".

Just take it line by line and separate the "dis" from the "jointed". Read the books, please.

American politics got redirected to aims & goals of the Military Industrial Complex in the Viet Nam years, VN waged in behalf of Royal Dutch Shell oil doings in Indonesia. Kennedy's Moon shots fitted well with military rocket science, so why not? Otherwise, for about 50 years the USA has not really embarked on any grand works of engineering, except build more roads and a bigger military to protect the oil.

PLO Muslims participated in the '72 Olympics, and the '76 highjacking to visit Idi Amin. The Achille Lauro saw a Jew in a wheelchair thrown over the rail. Israelis know full well there will be no second place finish for their country... Bibi may be crazy but he is not stupid!

America could step back from having military presence in the Middle East but not while we need full measure of oil it takes to keep on "Happy Motoring" and aviation delivery of foodstuffs.

GOP or Dems want to get going on NAWAPA engineering features to maintain full regalia stateside agriculture? Rebuild rail matrix to lessen diesel fuel needed for massive long haul trucking component?

About one half the people here do not vote. Shame on you... As mentioned:

"For What We Are About To Receive Lord, Let Us Give Thanks"

I hesitated to respond to your post, tahoevalleyline s, but must.

Beginning with your ending line: god is not in control and human beings have stated that vengeance is theirs. If god were in control, there would have never been conflict, death, destruction or religious wars, especially those fought in the name of that god's son.

The aim and mission of Islam (read, certain of their governments and a handful of people) was not even considered until it became obvious to Americans, in particular, that their own government was stirring the war sentiment, with a history of interfering in the Middle East, deposing leaders and killing thousands. Check your history since WWII. Can you tell me you would not fight if the U.S. were to be occupied and your family and friends dead, and oil and resources being siphoned off by said occupier?

By the bye, not all aspects of Islam circumcise girls or any of the issues you listed. Also by the bye, you might want to research the amount of crime in the "christian" nation of American and the numbers of crimes against women and children, and I mean violent as well as verbal. Oh, and how about the republican push to reduce women's rights?

Oh, you gotta a lot to check into tahoe.

-12 # tahoevalleylines 2012-10-02 15:17
PLEASE read for comprehension (not speed read or glance at somebody's review) George Grant's "The Blood Of The Moon" when able.

Observe unabridged Qur'an Surah imperatives on Jews preached by clerics in: Egypt; Sudan; Yemen; Libya; Syria; Saudi Arabia; Syria, Jordan; Indonesia; oh, and our Islamic bomb friend, Pakistan.

Research -yes it takes effort- children's books in Palestinian and Saudi religious schools depicting Jews as subhuman apes. School maps without any sign of Israel. Yes, there's much to check into!

Huff and puff about zany American politics, GOP & Dem games pale compared with activities IN PROGRESS at the hands of Islam... Muhammadanism is EXPERT at deception & schmoosing to peacably gain real estate, not votes- Fair warning.

Occupation is the lot of the defeated. Many people of Spanish heritage consider several US States to be rightfully part of Mexico? How long would we Union of States tolerate the sort of behavior Israel takes on a daily basis?

Not mentioned '48;'56;'67;'73 and multiple other acts of war leading to loss of territories... Have you petitioned the oil Arabs to send money and technical help for the Palestinians? Guns and explosives are OK...

But enough of this, Either read the references mentioned, or don't. Enjoy yourself, it's later than we think.

For what we are about to receive, Lord, let us give thanks

Addendum: Truman was in process of absolute mothballing of the US military in 1946. Joe Stalin made like he was moving into Iran, but USSR went on hold when Truman told Uncle Joe we had more of those inhumane atom bombs - Harry S. was not known as a bluffer! Later, Russian misjudgement brought Berlin Blockade, bringing on NATO. End of mothballing US armor.

Feeling left out, and thinking America was not willing to fight, China & North K bravely jumped S Korea on June 20th, 1950. On that day, this writer's family had WWII ex-Army friends, including an OSS guy visiting. Yours truly got an ear full, insights on Middle/Far East oil, maps, expanding communism, and insider's look at Islam thrown in.

Let's have equal footing before pointless arguing. The Jew stars in 2500 year old prophecy, fulfilled line by line, on time and in detail. More coming soon. It is in black and white, nobody is making anything up. Islam survives if they examine the scriptures about Israel. If not, then we refer interested parties to current Middle East action reports found at "LIGNET" and DEBKAfile. Also see Institute for Strategic and International Studies for more scholarly analyses of Iranian/Syrian/ Israeli/Egyptia n/Libyan conflict consequences.

Yes we will feel it at the gas pump. Yes, SAVAK reaction, including EMP attack on the electronic banking system. Got rail service nearby?

Or perhaps if we stop buying it. We need so much to get to work, If we figured out what we needed and kept within that amount, we would leave such a glut. But no our kids are speeding around, I see enough crosses. We have to shop for China imports We cannot share transportation.

it takes a Nation to fight...where have you been. I know exactly how much gas I need to use. When the price goes up, I go to places in one day, I do not waste gas. I got geothermal so I do not use oil haven't since 1978. I also keep my electric under a hundred during winter, half that in summer. I have a sizable home. However, I am smart in use of natural resources. I was planning on leaving some for my grandchildren.

No one owes us anything, if we do not like the way something is going, it is up to us to change it. What have you done?

I am not willing to argue the maneuvers of the world wars, except perhaps the suffering in the Middle East as a result of the "victors" building borders and creating chaos that was predicted at the time to cause more violence. But I will argue the maneuvers of Israel and Jews historically. Never forget there have been numerous other groups that inhabited the Middle East and those groups, including the Palestinians did not received preferential treatment after WWII. Perhaps you are quoting the Bible in stating the "The Jew stars in 2500 year old prophecy", but that does not cut it when other societies and cultures were decimated in the name of the Jew and their so-called relationship with their god. If in fact you are quoting the Bible, surely you will harken back to the old testament and the numbers of people killed and maimed by the Jews when establishing their one god religion. Imagine how that might sit in the minds of other religions.

You appear to excuse death and suffering in the name of winning. The Jew will win AT ALL COSTS?? Am I right?

Nobody excuses violent actions on the part of any group, including the Jews, but do keep history in mind concerning who really stirs the pot. After all Islam was established AFTER the Jews arrived and Christianity was formed. If anything, Muslims learned their tactics from both those religions. Oh, and never forget it was the Jews who took terrorism to the Middle East, including car bombs.

There was No first Faith...their was Belief.

Glen Are you making up your own facts again? You and all your cohorts yelled that the US was in Iraq to steal its oil. Here is a quote from the NY Times June 2 2012"

"Exxon Mobil has by far the largest stake of any American company in Iraq, but most of the major players are European and Asian, like Lukoil and Gazprom from Russia, and Chinese companies like China National Petroleum and China National Offshore Oil Corporation."
Tell me again how we are raping Iraq

0 # Glen 2012-10-03 04:16
Oil, psmall, is a fungible commodity, bargained for between companies. "Exxon Mobil has by far the largest stake in any American company in Iraq..." Who benefits and invests in Exxon Mobile?

And yes, I would say that attacking Iraq, an already decimated country thanks to depleted uranium, sanctions, and bombing prior to Bush II's attack on Iraq (with thousands already dead thanks to radiation caused diseases especially among children), and then proceeding to kill thousands, rendering a few million homeless and/or refugees, destroying cities and towns, and allowing mercenaries in, not to mention "terrorists" is pretty much a violent rape.

Add to that the takeover of oil fields, water and any minerals available. Yep. Rape.

Many 'Civil' Countries have circumcised women...now we have to blame Muslims/Islam very interesting. Does anyone know that they have defiled women right here in this Country for those of other Nationalities. Perhaps we have done it of our white culture also, it was done in dark ages, Victorian era so does anyone really believe this is just Middle East?
How about child abuse, rape...that came down thru Bible, like women abuse.

If Tahoe actually read half the information, might actually have a non biased attitude. We are Humans, therefore we all sin. Those of us who thru our lives abstain from our evil thoughts, can walk with our head held high. but we are all loathing in our own selves....Some of us just better at walking away from doing the act.
I have been around people who make disparaging remarks, once I allowed it. Then a good person said by ignoring it, I am part of it. Now I tell them that we do not speak that way in my home, I move from them if I am out.
Funny when I came here everyone hated blacks or spanish people. I asked if they ever met one, worked with one, served with one? They had not, there were none here. So how do you come by so much hatred and knowledge. Most left me alone. Ignorance is not bliss.

Tell ,e is it any different than the passages quoted by right-wing preachers from the bible. From day one a Christian child is brainwashed with that religion in the same manner as every other religion. "We are the only true religion." "Everyone else is going to hell." Remember it was the Christian religion that had the inquisition, the Jewish death camps and started the holy crusades.

In order for the United States to accept The New World rder, the ruling class had to destroy the unity of spirt that once was the United States.. They have achieved this by allowing in millions of people with totally cultures and religions, and then encouraging them to maintain their differences. In the cas of Muslims, there were 100,000 in our country ( mostly students) in 1970. There are now over four million.

Muslims have proven in Europe that once they achieve significant communities they do not assimilate with non-Muslims. Witness the fact that in Tennessee the TYSON chicken plant has dropped celebrating Labor Day, and is instead celebrating the last day of Ramadan.

The acceptance of the police state brought on over the past 6 years, necessitated by the fear of divergent groups is axactly according the the plans of the New World Order.

0 # Eduardo3 2012-10-02 21:42
Immigration and respect for diversity are what make this country great. And according to the first amendment, people are free to practice whatever religion they choose. As Christians celebrate Christmas, so Muslims celebrate Eid (the end of Ramadan). What is the problem with that?

+2 # 666 2012-10-03 03:55
there wasn't a whole lot of integration for many 19th century immigrants, especially non-wasp immigrants (eg irish & italians). Many areas of the east coast (e.g. boston & nyc) still reflect the segregation these immigrants faced. not only was there racism and massive discrimination but the capitalists actively took advantage of those that arrived here and tried to survive. (and they still do - as in the solomons and the new laws about using temporary foreign workers as virtual slaves).

as far as the number of muslim immigrants, this correlates directly to us involvement in their countries via wars, internal conspiracies etc. our policies in iran produced khomeni, we took thousands of iranian immigrants. likewise in lebanon, egypt, iraq, afghanistan. how many vietnamese immigrants would we have had if we were not in vietnam? ditto the drug "wars" and latin american immigrants.

Our immigration polices correlate with our foreign policies... (not to mention the corporate virtual enslavement of immigrants in the 19th and early 20th centuries).

All the way west people of their own culture, nationality, faith banded together because they understood their language, they ate the same food, they had similar faiths.
Families lived together to afford a way of life. Guess what Europe started same way.
Immigration Police Enslavement amazing this was about what goes around is going to come around.

Quoting Eduardo3:
Immigration and respect for diversity are what make this country great. And according to the first amendment, people are free to practice whatever religion they choose. As Christians celebrate Christmas, so Muslims celebrate Eid (the end of Ramadan). What is the problem with that?

True while we are free to practice our religion, or lack of it; However, we are not free to practice our religion upon others.
Sharia 'law' is not first amendment compatible.

Not First Amendment Compatible...in teresting. I think that way of many self serving Religions. I really thought about how it started here, Puritans burning people, killing Indians.
Funny how we allow Faith to manipulate lives when in fact Religion and Government have no business in Bed.
I have the right to practice my faith as does Islam

Our precious habeas corpus is gone replaced by the "National Security Authorization Act", "Patriot Act", overseas prisons, and our congress supports the giant prison of Gaza in Palestine without question. Our congress also supports the Zionist holocaust upon the Palestinians without question. It is a matter of time and most of us will be living in a giant "Gaza" owned and operated by the chosen people.

If I said black, you would answer, Jews
If I said white, you would answer , Jews. You see Jews everywhere. Why don't you get a dog to kick around and leave the Jews alone? If there were no Jews around you would have no one to blame for all your problems.

Who will do anything about it, they do nothing now for Palestine, or anyone else.
I remember when Africans were being hung, burnt in Africa and we ignored. How about the cruelty in China, Mexico we looked away.
Think we are gonna change now?

Stalag/Gulag West, available for all; & I wonder about PM Harper’s craving for prisons, here in Canada where the crime rate has fallen significantly. I note that the illustration reveals the modern realization of Bentham’s Panopticon.

How can all this be happening? After all, don't we have Obama to protect us? Didn't he promise to close GITMO? Just who asked for the prisoners from Britain? Was it Bush or Obama? Who passed NDAA? Who has a kill list that only he knows and who serves as judge, jury and executioner? Who has used the warrentless searches of the Patriot Act more?
The answer is of course the choice of libs here on RSN---OBAMA.
How's that hope and change working for you?

0 # KittatinyHawk 2012-10-21 19:03

It has certainly happened in the USA. Warrantless searches, wiretaps, citizens held by the military indefinitely without charges, and the entire TSA debacle. It's no longer a free country.

I wrote an article predicting this on September 12, 2001. See it at: http://slrman.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/freedoms-last-ring/

Court judges in the U.S. are already Shari'a law as a basis for their decisions. See "New Jersey Judge Rules Islamic Sharia Law Trumps U.S. Law"

I do agree with your report and give it a thumbs up.
We also must remember that the Muslims also preach that a good Muslin wife should have at least 8 children and in most countries where they have gain control they have promptly suspended human rights and the democratic process.

I have no sympathy for Abu Hamza but share your concern for the way in which the Obama administration has failed to defend the constitution. But he responds to the public sentiment that prevented the closing of Guantanamo when the congresscreatur es of states where the detainees might be sent reflected hysteria about foreign terrorism. Terre Haute Indiana managed to keep its composure when Timothy McVeigh was imprisoned and executed in the nearby federal prison but freaked at the prospect of housing muslims from Guantanamo. This sentiment virtually guaranteed that bin Laden would be assassinated rather than brought to the US or the Hague for imprisonment and trial.

0 # Glen 2012-10-05 08:22
Remember what happened to Milosevic and one of his top aides - while IN PRISON awaiting trial. If, in fact, the victim was bin Laden, you are correct to say he would have not made it to trial. Hussein, Milosevic, and many others knew too much about the activities of the U.S. for them to remain alive.

//What Is Happening to Muslims Will Happen to the Rest of Us//

This is based upon the assumption that the Muslims like the rest of us are not hell bent on every ones elses destruction.
Where ever they become the majority in a country - it really really sucks to be in the minority.

How does a women in a berka get treated in the USA, pretty much ignored or looked at like a wierdo -- how would a woman say randomly picked from the streets of average town USA during the summer and transported as is to a Muslim country? Showing ankles .. and gasp .. knees!!! and NO Male member of the family as an escort!!!

Stones for sale!
Stones for sale,
get your stones...

Do not support your destroyers.

Wow, Martinfre, you have an amazing capacity to generalize. Can you make an estimate of how many different churches, with various beliefs both literal and rather secular, exist within Christianity? How about Judaism. How many places in the U.S. do you see conservative Jews? How about the Christians who believe women should never cut their hair and should wear long skirts. They do exist.

Consider how many Muslims live in the U.S., witnessing those bare ankles, who would never even consider stoning those ladies and whose women do not wear a burka. You do realize that not all Muslim women wear burkas, don't you. A head scarf is no different than wearing a cross on a chain around the neck.

Oh, and who has actually done the destroying, Martinfre. Looks to me the U.S., by killing thousands of Muslims, has got the lead in the race to destroy.

Oprah Winfrey sent someone out with a Muslim woman in the US. She was cursed, spit on, etc. Where did you get your information?
When I was young people stared at nuns, in their weird headdresses and ankle length clothing, but I never saw the same behavior that is now shown toward Muslim women.
I have also noticed that when men wear head coverings as part of their religious belief nothing is said - such a different story from women.

Today increasing Racism has now turned on women. Funny since most would have spit on Israli women, Indian, Pakistan as they in their Faiths also dressed Modestly.

In fact all women dressed similarly for centuries so why do we now make mockery of others....nothi ng better to do.

Their clothing is beautifully made, all different, very cooling, very warming according to which material is used. We have lot to learn. Funny because I know women who have dressed as such in NY and never were they spit upon.

Nuns were called at and spit at..so I do not know how old you are, but obviously you have not been around long enough to talk to others.

Wow I know quite a few Faiths in USA that feel the same way and they are predominantly white

I am not a Racist, I have no fear of anyone's Faith it is their to have. I am not small minded

We allow our children look like sluts. So I am not all so angry that perhaps an elusive look, a bit less flesh is not such a bad thing. Funny thing is that most faiths felt the same way. Women dressed in Jesus time and before less shamelessly.
Men's demeanor toward women in USA is quite real I have helped many a victim and I was raped so I do not heed to hear someone like you speak of Muslims...look under the American Blanket It is not perfect either.

Women are perceived as weak and easily bullied, solution put women warriors in exotic clothing and deal with the bully boys so they understand it. A trip to the ER gives a man a real perspective.
