In my opinion the polls are made to be GOP friendly and Im sure they are polling in the reddest areas. I think Obama is going to win, and I for one will be totally relieved that Mitt the Twit, and Lyin Ryan wont be making decisions on my behalf or the countries.

Please vote Democratic in the all senate and congressional races...lets get the do nothing, obstructionist, GOP idiots out of control. No blue dogs, all solid Dems that we can use to actually change things in this country!

I'm starting to think the Republicans are going to cheat, even more than they did in 2000 and 2004 ... so the media is setting us up psychologically for that to happen, when it happens.

Remember the two years when Obama had both houses and what they passed was total crap. The Dems, while not as bad as Reps., are still pieces of crap. I'm tempted to vote republican so that the time when people get screwed to the point they notice or the country goes down in flames, will come sooner. We are headed for hard times in this country no matter who is elected because they are all the same bunch of dicks.

Obama cannot lose. He will have 99% of the black vote; 90% of the Latino vote, 100% of the Muslim vote, 60% of the white union vote and 25% of the European decent white vote. Romney will only have 75% of the European decent white vote.

Another way to look at it, over 45% of the population is now deceiving direct government payments, he will get 90% of that voate and, plus 35% of the working Americans votes.

Obama wins by a landslide.

Plus Obama wins 99 percent of the gay-lesbian vote, 90 percent of the Asian-American vote and -- this is important -- 55 percent of the WHITE WOMEN vote.

The electoral math favors Obama. He can lose Florida and Ohio and still win the election.

He's a better speaker, more charismatic, and will do well in the debates.

I agree, Obama in an electoral landslide.

Obama made some good points in his first interview the other day when he said, the Republican strategy that brought this mess all about has not changed, only now they want to double-down on it!

What kind of idiot thinks Republicans care or have a clue about how to fix the economy? Romney is a frickin' thief of our money, from loans, taxes and other stuff.

Listen to the convention they are roasting Obama with comedy jokes and saying absolutely nothing about the deficit, the debt or anything else - just insults.

+13 # brux 2012-08-30 00:32
I sure hope so.

In fact even if Obama wins, unless it is by a decisive victory, even greater than this first victory, I think the Republicans will just go on as usual - that is they just try harder with more money they steal from us in the next 4 years.

No, if we want the course of the country to change we need some overwhelming victories, and people setting some decisive trends.

And, we need Citizens United gone and election reform.

"over 45% of the population is now deceiving" nice Freudian slip.. However proper grammar would be "over 45% are now being deceived. " By the way Tom, which militia do you belong to?

I am against both the republican candidates of greed and wealth and the democratic candidates of liberal imperialism and triangulation.

Both parties are so bad that we'd all be better off if there were no election and the presidency simply went vacant for four years.

I think it is too early to tell who will win. The reps will swift boat Obama like there is no tomorrow. there is no depth to the lies and dirty tricks they will bring out in October. The phrase "October Surprise" has always been the republican strategy. And voter suppression is probably going to be a lot more massive than we can now imagine.

On the other hand, the two republican candidates are about the worst who have ever run for office. Ryan and Romney do not have the qualities of character to do anything. The are complete liars and complete shills for the billionaire class. They are supported by organized criminals like Adelson, Rove, and Koch Bros.

Obama is no longer an inspiring candidate either. Very many African Americans will stay home this time. I will stay home. Most younger voters will stay home. Obama pissed on his base and does not deserve another vote. The only reason to vote for Obama is to be against Romney.

So the election cannot be predicted, except to say it is going to be ugly. No one will come out of this a winner. We all lose. Well, I guess wall street, the Israeli right wing, and the pentagon will win. They always do.

If Romney wins, America deserves to fail. You can't be indifferent regarding the nation that for better or worse, gave you the ability to at least have a chance to be something. Other nations don't do this and the wealth and influence of ones family often determined the fate of an individual (see Japan, pre 2004 - it was recently made illegal to use ones family history to make hiring decisions).

Mrcead, you miss the real potential of this country, which is its "melting-pot" status, by focusing on its "great American Dream" mirage. Let's stop being duped by the 1% into believing that it's okay to just have a "chance to be something", and step into our role as a multicultural nation with true equality, where each of us have the support of all of us, to live up to our potential. We are still the hope of the world, the only show in town, so to speak, and so we must get our act together and lead it out of the dark ages. We just need to wake up from the nightmare that the "American dream" has turned into, and live in reality.

Obama is confident because he has watched his ole pal Bill C. make mega-bucks on the outside...so if he wins, he wins...and if he loses, he also wins! Obama is just another Harvard asshole in it for the money.

RLF: You need to quit projecting.

President Obama said right after he took office that he might be a one-term president, and he was okay with that. He is a good man, with a beautiful family, and so he's going to be happy no matter what happens with the election. He has the kind of temperament that is calm in all weathers, and he is obviously contented with his lot in life. When you're truly happy, your happiness is not dependent on the actions of others. That's wisdom. Anyone who is awake will know that Obama is head-and-should ers above Romney, and should be president for four more years. In November we will see whether the American people deserve this man.

Unless you know after watching the Republican Convention that the Romney camp is corrupting the votes !
Maine went to Ron Paul according to the Maine delegates who showed up at the Convention !
In Belfast where after they called that district for Romney they did a recount and they reported Ron Paul won ! So what did officials do when they were told about the error in the count ? They threw out all of Ron Paul's votes out and gave a 0 count for Belfast and gave the entire state to Romney ! According to Ron Paul supporters Ron Paul should have been the winner in the primary . If this is true then Romney is buying his way to the White House by corrupting the votes !

I am not a Ron Paul supporter ,"I actually am a Obama supporter ,"but I want to see a fair election not a corrupted one !

Obama needs to be on top of this issue with Maine and stop this corruption before the November election !

If only Ron Paul had the integrity to turn on the Republican Party and expose them - the secrets he could probably tell.

He's already doing that at the RNC -and being silenced for it!

I think computerization has made campaigns very sophisticated. They analyze the race district by district, especially in swing states. Popular vote differences by 1 or 2% may not be crucial.

Of course, the issue not being discussed here, and which has virtually been ignored by the democrats for 12 years now, is the (according to Greg Palast) 13 million people that have already been thrown off the voting rolls. Nothing else may matter. If enough people are thrown off the rolls in just a couple of key states (like Penn. where i've heard that up to 750,000 may be purged...more than the margin Obama won by in 2008) it won't matter what Obama says. Where have the dems been on this one for 12 years (including dealing with the hacked, fraudulent voting machines, that have been completely privatized such that no one can can even look at the programs that run them)?

Where have the American people been, sitting on their behinds watching reality tv shows, stuffing their faces, while everything precious is being stolen from us? When are we going to hold them accountable? The small minority of those who are awake can't do it all. If the majority of Americans don't care enough to get the facts before they vote, then this country is in for some very rough times.

0 # brux 2013-03-13 10:12
I have to say the issue is only partially that some people are kicked off the voter rolls ... the issue is why are Americans voting against their best interests? That is because there is a war against rebelling against the establishment and the status quo. Do so and you risk your life and your family's life. So people accept the party/FOX News line and just get on with life - it ain't yet so bad for more people.

The problem is that Americans are stupid, and violence, and do have an entitlement attitude that they can pick on people weaker than they are, that they can exploit minorities, and colonize countries. Listen to us talk sometimes.

The problem is that all the nice people that come here and shine sunlight out their asses do not really mean what they say ... they are not really invested in anything, not even modeling a good alternative to what we have now ... they just want to complain.

There is a middle ground between the Left and the Right and our subconscious expectations is what causes us not to be able to see it or rationally discuss it.

+5 # Buddha 2012-08-30 09:12
Well, this is exactly why the GOP has been trying to disenfranchise minorities in swing states. Duh.

"That would suggest that Romney is actually up by a couple points.
So, what gives?"

It's not that complicated. We DON'T HAVE A NATIONAL ELECTION.

It's decided by each state (usually winner take all). The electoral college is all that matters. Given that fact, according to www.electoral-vote.com (a website that uses an algorithm to predict based on ALL known polls and their past accuracy), President Obama is substantially ahead. There are about 10 swing states. Almost all of them favor Obama.

Of course all of this REQUIRES that votes are actually COUNTED!

Obama doesn't have enough margin to allow for 3rd parties diverting the vote.

ALSO, right now, the Senate is likely to be flipped to the repugs. They will probably have a 53 seat majority or so.

WE NEED TO VOTE AND WE NEED TO FIGHT TO MAKE SURE OUR VOTES ARE COUNTED.
