Excerpt: "As the father of two daughters (who are with me in London), I take sexual assault allegations seriously (Assange has never been charged). But standing outside this embassy surrounded by British police, it looked to me like a classic case of powerful Western states uniting to intimidate a less powerful country on behalf of their prerogatives toward domination and war. It had nothing to do with 'the rule of law.' And it had nothing to do with women's rights."

Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

This is total nonsense. The entire planet knows the British are not going to storm the embassy. Who is being intimidated? What exactly are the people in the embassy supposed to be afraid of?

Are the British going to starve them out? Are they harassing the members of the embassy? They put police around the embassy. So what? It's their country. They can put the police wherever they want. Just because the people on this board don't like it the fact remains that Assange is a fugitive. What should the British be doing? Bringing him cookies & cake?

How about a movement , worldwide, to storm British Embassies, after having passed similar policies to the English in the countries doing the storming.
