Excerpt: "I joined the Rainbow Warrior a week ago in Keelung, Taiwan. Normally I work for Greenpeace Netherlands as a nuclear campaigner, but my radiation expertise was needed on board to guarantee the safety of the crew. Now we are getting closer to Fukushima, the Japanese government has begun obstructing our efforts to do independent research."

RSN Special Coverage: Disaster in Japan

Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

When it comes to protect people against government/priv ate interest the "totalitarian" governments - Chernobyl and "democratic" governments - Fukushima act same - lie.
Who and where has power?

Rainbow Warrior should be sent to Gulf - so far all the "research" there is controlled, monitored, and payed by the criminal = BP.

I believe that going to Japan is far more important since we have many National Organizations from Sierra Club, to Bio Diversity Group and Union of concerned Citizens keeping a Watch on Gulf and lies of cleanup.
However, we have not gotten any up to date info on Media about Japan in month and there is radiation leakage since day one into Water, Ocean so let's get some Truth.
Thanks GreenPeace, Thanks Rainbow Warrior

NRC, GE, US will not tell the Truth, we need You. Thanks RSN, please keep us informed.

Being a supporter of Sea Shepherd and GreenPeace for years, I think Japan has a well defined history about the type of marine research they like to conduct. The Institute for Cetacean Research may not be able to go killing whales this year because of budget needs related to the Fukushima disaster.
There is absolutely no good reason for this to not be monitored as closely as all the air and ground monitoring (and that monitoring is lacking in detail and scope).
I am glad to know the Rainbow Warrior is committed to finding and reporting the truth!

Is there also some angst we should have about the plans that the government has spoken for nuclear power plants?
Let's make a rattle like that.
