Netanyahu always admired, courted and learned from George W. Bush. Bush validated Netanyahu always. Now Bibi carries on his mentor's work.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

What is this - "beacon of freedom"! Since when was Israel ever a beacon of freedom? True, Netanyahu and Bush are apples off the same tree, and Netanyahu is on the ground, rotting before our very eyes. The question is will he succeed in attacking Iran. Israel needs a Big Bang because only a Big Bang will raise enough dust to blind the rest of the world to its nasty machinations. For Israels fuhrers, looking for war has become a way to survive. And they're not merely copying American Presidents, they're egging them on. Regrettably, we're all in this together. All we can do is hope and pray for a series of miracles to keep these mountebanks from having their way. Pete Edler, Stockholm

These are the end-times, when the dark side gets darker, and the light side lighter, and Netanyahu is definitely on the dark side. These are the times when "evil struts about in broad daylight". It is the time when we each have to make a choice between vice and virtue, between the material world and the world of the heart. It is in our power to make the right choice. What do you choose?

Bibi earned his MBA. Bush's was bought for him by his family. That is the biggest difference between the 2.

Bibi is in politics because of a famous fallen brother. Bush is in politics because of an inherent inability to earn an honest living.

Neither of them has a vision for a future. Both seek to regain a past that never existed.

BTW the other, anti-semitic, posters who wrote prior to this message should try and read a few histories. Strong recommendation is "Forgotten Ally" by a Canadian journalist of Dutch descent written in 1943 before the creation of Israel. A very perceptive man and long forgotten himself.

I would argue that the Palestinians and even the Arabs in general have done a great deal for peace in recent years. The PA is building institutions and reining in militants; the Arab Peace Plan has been on the table for years. It is Israel that has proven grossly intransigent, largely because making peace means giving up settlements and conquered land. So long as Israel continues to occupy and brutalize Palestinians, its reputation is beyond salvaging. Also, the double-standard that benefits Israel is apparent. Consider: Hamas has been ostracized because it will not recognize Israel's "right to exist" (and other pre-conditions); for decades, Israelis have elected govt's that refused, in some cases, to even recognize that Palestinians exist! Indeed, it is telling that Netanyahu only 'agreed" to a 2-state solution last year! Yet Israel has never been sanctioned because of this political intransigence. Maybe it is time that changed.

If Netanyahu were to be replaced with Shimon Peres or Yossi Beilin, and the Hamas leadership were to be replaced with Saeb Erakat, they could all have a peace treaty in short order. It's the extremists on both sides that keep the turmoil rolling.

You are out of your mind. Israel needs to stop persecuting the Palestinians and give them back the land they stole. Israel has no right to be there. They took that land by force and continue to exile, imprison, and kill the rightful inhabitants of Palestine. There will be no peace in the middle east until the Jews leave. Period.

Bella, you are right. You have said outloud what many people think. This land belong to it's former inhabitants whom were the Palestinians. This land was stolen period.
