Media Matters makes a living digging up dirt on Fox News, literally. This time, however, they appear to have a scandal with legs.

Comments

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

The simple solution to the whole "disinvited to the Pentagon National Day of Prayer observance" issue is follow the recently reported federal judge's decision to do away with the National Day of Prayer altogether, as it clearly violates the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

FOX won a lawsuit brought by a former employee who refused 2 broadcast a piece that she new 2 be a falsehood, about growth hormones used to make beef cows grow bigger, faster, or to produce more milk in dairy cows.
The Judge ruled that as an employee of FOX "News" she was obligated to do as they had requested, to lie.
FOX *News is infotainment & Phar(R) wing agitprop.
FOX would make Joeseph Goebells green w/ envy too, aka "NV" 2.
But who works 4 whom? It has been postulated that the GOP actually works 4 FOX, & that would make more sense. The corporatists have politically engineered their own catbirds seat w/ a mainstream political party. Now if that's not the makins' 4 fascism, Musolini was wrong when he intimated that another word 4 fascism would B corporatism.
A combination of FOX, Roger Ailes, Limbaugh, Beck & the rest of the HATE radio clones, coupled w/the repugnant retreads from the daze of the Watergate infamy, = a toxin 2 Democracy.

Maybe but ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN all promote and run fundraisers for the Democrats. I would say its more in the Democrats advantage. No News is unbias.

Do you have evidence?

+6 # Guest 2010-04-26 10:36
This is a ridiculous myth. This just keeps being repeated despite copious evidence to the contrary. But the people who want to believe this just "conserve" their own opinions. That's what conservatives do.

Just EXACTLY what are you talking about. Sounds like noise coming from the wrong end to me.

Your statement holds no water without providing proof. Where is it?

That is TOTAL BS. Not even MSNBC does that. NO NEWS CHANNEL does fundraisers for Dems... Not even MSNBC, which has 2 hours of Liberal commentators and at least 2 hours of Repub commentators each day. The rest is in the Center. The reason Fox accuses a liberal bias on all the networks is those networks report FACTS Which usually favor Liberal causes...

Unbiased? Good news isn't biased, it's just factual.

News is suppose to inform the people of facts, it's a cornerstone of democracy. When you have an organization such as Fox NOT reporting the truth and spreading lies to promote their agenda you have a dumb downed public who are misinformed and out of touch with reality. Not sure where you got your 'facts' about other legitimate news organizations and fund raisers, but I suspect Fox?

The law provides that you can not go to jail due to a debt. At the same time it does provide that you can go to jail for not cooperating with IRS to settle your debt with them be it healthcare debt or other income tax due.

This is a lie. The IRS will monitor payments to insurance but will NOT convict and punish by jail for not paying for health care insurance.

Get your facts straight.

Blonde bimbos that look like porn stars and fat white men in suits who call bear baiting 'interviews' is what Fox is all about. As for the people who watch and adhere to this form of entertainment - it speaks volumes on who and what they are.

@JustMe: You have spun the judge's ruling somewhat. The Freedom from Religion Foundation challenged the National Day of Prayer on Constitutional basis, and U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb ruled in their favor, while saying that her order does not block any prayer day until all appeals have been exhausted. President Obama's administration was the defendant in this case, and has indicated that it will observe National Prayer Day through proclamation.
Personally, I think that if people want to pray, they can do it, either in private or in church, but institutionaliz ing prayer takes another step toward loss of freedom of religion.

My Opinion: Media Empires can be influential Monsters in America. After 30 years of obsessive deregulation schemes, almost ALL Media in America is now owned by just a few GLOBAL Corporations. Think of the power they have at hand to persuade, motivate, inform or misinform, or even to Hoodwink--- Millions. Corporations owe their allegiance to their shareholders. What does that mean when such Corporations are Global in nature? The Courts and Congress have given Corporations the stature of 'Persons. What is their actual National Identity? Do they consider America 'THEIR' Country? The Supreme Court decided that Corporations may use their money to influence OUR Elections. It's time to ask what such a state of affairs may be doing to US, to OUR COUNTRY. What does a Free Press mean in a country where almost all the Free Press is employed by just a few Global Corporations ? What does Free Speech mean when almost all the pipelines for it are owned and controlled by just a few Global Corporations ?

m, I enjoy your rhetorical questions. Of course we know the answers. Corporations owe no loyalty to any nation, have no real patriotism since their loyalty is to a bottom line at the expense of everything else; corporations have no investment in empowering the government as an organ representative of the people. Corporations are decidedly undemocratic and will do everything they, by any means necessary, to mold public perception and behavior toward their ends and the common good be damned. And now the Supreme Court has made legal the right of these pseudo persons to buy the government wholesale.

Every thinking person who loves their country, loves democracy, loves freedom and values an informed electorate as the best safeguard against tyranny needs to wake up to the fact that their country, their democracy, their freedom and yes, their very conscious awareness of reality has been sold to the highest bidders. It sure ain't us, m!

Fox News' audience is the product of the educational system of the USA. If you spent more time and money on K-12 and hadn't gone back to a "separate but equal" no-busing system so that high school graduates got as good an education as they do in other countries, you might be in a better spot today.
